Education and Military Service
Marc A. Pomerantz, M.D. graduated from the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia in 1963. He served an internship and a residency in General Surgery at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago.
Dr. Pomerantz's training was interrupted by the war in Vietnam, and in 1966, he was sent to the US Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton, California, as a Staff Surgeon. In 1967, he was sent to South Vietnam as a surgeon with in the US Marines. And in 1968, he was awarded a Bronze Star with combat "V" for action connected with the Tet Offensive.
Achievements and Memberships
After returning to Chicago in 1968, Marc A. Pomerantz, M.D. completed his residency and was certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1971. Later, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Surgery at Rush University. Dr. Pomerantz practiced hair replacement surgery with the Bosley Medical Group, where Dr. Bosley appointed him as the Associate Medical Director. He later co-founded the New Hair Institute, and he is the founder and director of the Chicago Hair Institute, where he currently practices. As a dedicated hair restoration surgeon, Dr. Pomerantz is a member of many professional societies, including the American Hair Loss Council, and the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. Dr. Pomerantz serves as a governor on the Board of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and Chairman of the Industrial and Governmental Relations of the American Hair Loss Council.
